Being lucky enough to have a large site the club constructed a 5 inch gauge ground level track for the operation of passenger hauling trains. David Cramphorn, the section leader is pleased to welcome and introduce new members.
Starting from the far end of the site there is a turntable from which the track runs behind the G Gauge and 0 Gauge layouts before turning in front of the clubhouse where it forms a loop, with a short siding.
We have both battery and internal combustion engines in use to haul passengers on open days. Plus we have a small fleet of live steam locos which areregularly overhauled and fully inspected prior to the necessary boiler certificates and insurance.
Some of our 5″ locos are listed below (to be added to as locos are being bought into service)
Catriona
Catriona is an 0-6-0 tender loco constructed in a narrow gauge outline by Blackgate Engineering, from the “Sweet Pea” design, finished in a maroon livery. She has a marine boiler, with two water tanks, one as a saddle tank the other in the tender, and is capable of hauling trains carrying about ten adults.
BR Type 29
In 2025 the club purchased this BR Type 29. It is a battery powered replica of a BR deisel locomotive.
Sarah Siddons
Sarah Siddons is a replica of a locomotive built in 1922 for the Metropolitan Railway. You can find more information about the orional locomotive on wikipedia here.
Other locomotives & rolling stock
The club own several other locos both working, and some awaiting restoration and certification.
